Your Mac Might Be Infected is caused by an ad-supported software on your device. These tech-support scams are just trying to scam you, everything they state is fake, unless the issue is entirely unconnected. If you're dealing with adware , it would not be shocking if the ads were quite intrusive and popped up over and over again. An adware commonly comes together with free software, and if you don't deselect it, it will install alongside the software. No need to worry about the advertisements endangering your device, and unless you dial the provided number, you'll be fine. The scammers on the other side of the phone will try very hard to trick you into giving remote access to your OS, and then try to make you think that they have solved the issue (which doesn't even exist in the first place), for which you would be charged. Bear in mind that you should never give remote access to your computer to unfamiliar parties, especially if you get their number via some advert that just appeared out of the blue in your browser. And if you are still worried about the ad you are getting, it's bogus, and your machine is secure. The ads will only stop popping when you erase Your Mac Might Be Infected, so the sooner you do that, the better.
